FAQ: Questions and answers about your work at COFFRA

Department: Auditing

How do the first days and the integration go?

On your first day, we will introduce you to all team members. We will give you a welcome booklet, your computer equipment (laptop, USB stick…) The managers will guide you: they will explain the different tasks and the clients. A training session will teach you how to use our IT tools.

What internal training courses are there?

Regular training in auditing techniques is offered to all employees.

How do I know which assignments I will be participating in?

One of our managers is in charge of planning the deployment. The planning is recorded on a software accessible to the employees. On average, the teams in the projects consist of 2 to 4 people. The schedule is updated regularly. You will find on your schedule for each assignment the name of the client, the purpose of the assignment and the location.

How is a team assembled for a project?

During assignments at the customer’s premises, the trainee or junior auditor is accompanied by an experienced auditor. The teams change depending on the client, so you will not always work with the same team.

Who can I contact if I have questions?

For day-to-day questions you can contact the directors and managers. For questions relating to the current assignment, the project manager is the best person to answer questions.

Do people travel a lot?

Our examination season starts in October and lasts until the end of April. The examiners are obliged to travel regularly to the clients’ premises. Each week, your schedule will inform you of the location and the number of days of assignment.

How is the trip organised?

The project manager organises the trip (booking of train tickets and accommodation) for his team.

Who pays the travel expenses?

All travel expenses are of course covered by the company.

What should I wear?

Workwear is a must, the employees represent the company. For customers: Suits and ties are suitable for men, and a neat outfit with jacket is recommended for women, unless the specific customer context requires more informal clothing. In offices: A relaxed dress code can be accepted.

Which software is used?

Caseware is the software with which you can document all operations. For time recording and customer invoicing, the internal software CEGID.

What is the working atmosphere at COFFRA like?

We have a young and dynamic team. Within the company, teamwork and exchange between the different auditors is very important. The teams are united and work together to perform their daily tasks. The working atmosphere is friendly and we pay attention to a good balance between professional and private life.

Will I have to speak to the customer in German?

Your German language skills are initially particularly useful for understanding German documents during assignments.

Are there further training courses at COFFRA throughout my career?

COFFRA offers regular training in auditing techniques for all employees. Modern language courses, further training in English or German, as well as communication and management training from a higher level are regularly offered.

Department: Accounting

How do the first days and the integration go?

On your first day you will be welcomed by the leaders of the accounting (or payroll) team who will introduce you to the organisation of the company, the team, the different procedures and the tools used.

What will I do in the accounting field?

In the accounting department: you will be responsible for keeping client files, e.g. recording accounting records, preparing monthly reports, ongoing tax monitoring, participation in accounting work, etc. In the payroll department: you will be responsible for recording and checking clients’ pay slips, administrative management of employees, payment of fees, management of social declarations, DADS, relations with social organisations.

What further training is available at COFFRA?

We regularly set up various professional training courses to keep up to date with the latest social, accounting and tax news. You will be trained by the file manager in local accounting techniques and by the supervisors and directors of the payroll department in payroll techniques.

How do I know which cases I will be working on?

The managers take care of the planning as well as the allocation of the files to the employees according to their profile and experience. Their schedule is accessible via our internal software Figgo.

How is a team put together for a case?

In accounting, you usually work in pairs on a file using a file manager. In payroll accounting, the payroll accountants independently manage a portfolio of clients. The payroll is checked by superiors.

Who can I contact if I have questions?

You can contact your project manager, or the person you work with. We have set up a tutoring system to better understand the needs of the employees. Your tutor is therefore also a contact person for all kinds of questions.

Do people travel a lot?

For certain topics some trips to customers are necessary.

What should I wear?

Department: Tax consultancy

How do the first days and the integration go?

On the first day, you will be welcomed by the HR manager, who will introduce you to the partners and all the employees of the company. In the team where you will be working, a place with the tools you need awaits you: PC, telephone, access to databases for searching documents.

What will my tasks be?

Under the supervision of experienced lawyers in your team, you will work on various dossiers for legal research, the preparation of legal notes and consultations. Our lawyers deal with both advisory and litigation files in the fields of commercial, labour and tax law.
You may be required to accompany the lawyer with whom you are working on a case to a client meeting or hearing.

What further training is available at COFFRA?

Depending on your personal needs, you can take part in legal training courses on specific topics, such as regulatory changes.

How do I know which cases I will be working on?

The responsible partner distributes the files among the various lawyers in the team. The lawyers will ask you to work on cases with them. You can work with different lawyers in the same team on different cases.

Who can I contact if I have questions?

You should first contact the lawyer with whom you are working on a case to ask questions about the case. If he or she is not available, you can ask any other experienced lawyer who can help you with legal issues.

Do people travel a lot?

Travel to meetings with clients or possibly to hearings is necessary.

How is the trip organised?

Each team assistant can book train tickets or accommodation through our internal booking system.

Who pays the travel expenses?

All travel and accommodation costs are covered by the company.

What are the working tools (computer equipment, software used)?

Every employee has a PC and a telephone at his or her workplace. The usual documentary research tools are available.

Will I have to speak German?

You may need to use the German language both in writing and orally: in writing, for e-mails, letters, consultations; or or orally, in telephone conversations with clients or in telephone conferences with several lawyers.

Are there further training courses at COFFRA throughout my career?

Every year you can benefit from legal training to perfect your legal knowledge. Employees are offered modern language courses in English or German.
